Stuck

Hopewriters Day 7 Stuck

We wandered into one of my favorite stores. My husband and 9 year old daughter sat down in the big comfy chair right near the door tired from a long afternoon of wandering around, while I found the clearance rack.

Happy to find a very cute tankini top just my size I hurried into the plush dressing room to try it on. I pulled it over my head noticing it was a little tighter than I thought but continued to try and shove my arm through it. It was so cute and seventy percent off ! It had to fit. As I struggled to slide my second arm in, I realized I was stuck.

Disappointed that this wasn’t going to be a go, I tried to get it off. But I couldn’t. I was really stuck. Half in and half out of the cutest bathing suit top.

The dressing room bustled outside of me as I started to sweat and flail about like a fish washed up on the beach, arms waving about as I tried to wriggle out of it. Half laughing at myself and half truly concerned about how I was going to get myself out of this situation, I began to assess my options. Deciding that neither yelling at the top of my lungs for my family to come nor trying to find a sales lady half naked were viable ideas I opted for my phone- and somehow managed to text them with both arms almost out of joint. “Help! I am stuck!!” Thankfully after a few uncomfortable minutes they got the text and my daughter came to rescue me from the tankini that wouldn’t budge.

Getting stuck is no fun in any situation we face it. We can’t move forward or go back to where we started and often the only way out is help; an outside source that can do something we are unable to at the moment.

Unfortunately, I find myself in this place a lot, but needing help isn’t such a bad thing. Knowing we are dependent on our Heavenly Father is actually the best place we can be. It accurately positions us in a place to receive more from Him and helps us to know His character better too.

He knows the way out and will take us through. He delights to be our rescuer and is so pleased when we reach out to Him. The best part is, being stuck isn’t forever when you know where your help is found.
