Plot Twist
Hopewriters Day 9 Plot Twist
Plot twists are the best when you are watching a movie or reading a great book. You think you know for certain where things are headed then all of a sudden a shift from out of nowhere happens. You find yourself staring at the screen, jaw gaping, popcorn in hand, confused and intrigued and wondering how it’s all going to turn out.
Plot twists keep us on the edge of our seat during a movie but I must admit I don’t think they are much fun in real life. I like things predicable and steady. A sudden unseen change can leave me
with a sick stomach even if it’s
something good. .
It’s hard to be one who clings to steady, in a world where the one thing you can count on is change. And difficult things happen that you just didn’t see coming. .
So if plot twists are inevitable it leaves me wondering how to handle them when they happen in my own life. My tendency is to live carefully and be watchful, preparing myself for anything. Problem is this isn’t living. This is letting fear run you around and have the last say.
I have learned that’s no fun the hard way. .
Jesus is showing me however, to lean into what is known when the unknown feels like a scary shadow lerking. .
So when I get that feeling in my stomach that tells me to batten down the hatches and hide,
Jesus is there welcoming me to come inside. He invites me to sit under the shelter of his wing and start to count up all the known things.
.
I am loved.
I am safe.
I am perfectly cared for.
By a God who is good
And faithful
And on my side.
He is kind like no other.
He is my Father.
He is in control
And holds the world in his hands
He is the one making my plans .
Soon enough I begin to rest and know that Jesus is taking care of the rest. .
And the next time my plot twists and I start to feel afraid , I will lean into Jesus and what I know about His ways.
