Celebration
Piles of watermelon
In the grocery bin
Announcing summer
With their striped outsides
Dark green, light, dark green, light
Inside pink cold and sweet
I take one home to eat
Like an ice pop on a hot July day
Juice runs down my arm and off my elbow
Sticky and drippy
Chewing right down to the rind
Not stopping until it’s all inside of me
With a pinkish red grin
I revel in Your love for me.
I celebrate summer!
