Anticipation
Anticipation is being in a space
You are not actually in.
It’s thinking ahead of yourself,
In a sense it’s
An imaginative expectation
Of events
Good or bad
Depending on your bent.
It’s the build up
Before something actually occurs
A place we go
So we won’t get hurt
It’s “all in our head’ stuff
That tries to steer the ship
It can land hard
When the actual event
Doesn’t match our mind’s eye
It can make butterflies dance
When we wish they would fly.
We anticipate our performance
Or a trip with a friend
We anticipate a meeting,
And how it might end.
Anticipation keeps us going
And coming back for more
It’s the wonder or the dread
Of what might be in store.
So sometimes it’s good
And sometimes bad
But it’s a part of life
that we all have had
So when it tries
To steal the show
I’ll use these words
To make it go
This is the day
Which The Lord has made
This is the day
Where I am going to stay.
Psalm118:24
“ This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
