Untethered

If I am honest,

Life right now feels a bit untethered,

And like a spider’s web,

Floating in the breeze

I can’t see

What’s holding onto me

Glossy silk strand, reflecting light

Hangs in suspension soft and slight.

Not sure why or what’s the cause

Could be the changes,

Could be the loss,

But I am bringing myself to

Another point of view.

I will not forget Your Word,

I will not forget You.

I will not forget that

You will do what You say You will do.

My feelings are feelings,

Not the basis of my truth.

My Truth is sure and

It starts with You.

You say that I am yours

And that You’ll never leave.

You say that I am safe because

You ‘re holding onto me.

You’re my helper,

My keeper,

And my faithful friend.

You fill me up to

Bless once again.

So no matter what my feelings say,

I know things will be ok.

Because God, You promise

to be my tether,

Both today, tomorrow,

and forever.

Psalm 94: 16-19

“If God hadn’t been there for me, I never would have made it. The minute I said, “I’m slipping, I’m falling,” your love, God, took hold and held me fast. When I was upset and beside myself, you calmed me down and cheered me up.
