Renaissance Moment

Standing in line
At the pharmacy again,
Tired people
Worn from the day
Mothers buying sugared
Cookies to keep the kids at bay.

We are united in
The headaches
The tired
The want to go home, to a meal waiting
And for the problems to go away
All looking for something
To take the pain,
To give us a new start,
To give us a new day.

We all want a renaissance moment.
We all want new,
A reset, a rebirth
A re-do.

We don’t all know it,
But we all need You.
You are the one
Who will take us through
All the hurt and pain
Restoring us to life again.

You wash our souls and make us clean,
And then you do the kindest thing;
You invite us into
Your family
You heal our hearts
And meet our needs.

You’re the Fixer
And the Helper
The One who, lifts my head
You’re the Rescuer and
Savior just like You said.

The line starts to move
And so does my mood
As my thoughts slowly
Turn towards You.

And finally,
The pharmacist calls my name
I get the medicine
But leave the shame.

Thank you God
That you
See me.
(even here,
at the pharmacy.)

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ *he is* a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things have passed away. Behold, new things have come.

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect *and* constant peace *the one* whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts *and* takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].
