Finding You Here

I am finding you here,
Where brave meets page
And pen gives way
To words gone rogue
Dribbling ink,
Giving roots to what I think.

I am finding you here,
Where shoots break dirt
In early spring,
Stretching in a yellow sea
Ground into glory
Swaying and free.

I am finding you here,
Where dishes stack tall
Splattered sauce, stuck on cheese,
Water, warm
Soap and sponge
You speak in the scared ordinary
Making tainted things,
And people clean.

I am finding you here,
Where my faith feels stuck
In the muck
Of doubts and wonderings,
Sermons, thoughts and talk
Your presence,
Quiets things.

I am finding you here,
Where the night seems long
And there is no song,
And soul wanders in the dark.
You find what’s lost,
Paying the cost,
You light my way and
Lead me home.

I am finding you here,
Where Papa sings lullabies
And baby shuts eyes,
In arms, strong secure,
Loved and held
Seen and known,
His banner over me
I am his own.

I am finding you here ,
In my ordinary every day
Breaking through
The ink and the dirt,
The sadness and hurt
With light and life,
You are making
Everything all right.

Revelation 21:5
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”(NIV)

Song of Solomon 2:4
He has brought me to his banquet hall,
And his banner over me is love.(NIV)
