Faith to Stay

pc:katherine chase

You didn’t answer my prayer.
I cried and prayed
And you were silent.
Where did you go
God ever-present?

Is it something I said?
Did I stump you
With my question, too hard?
Was it too raw,
Too real even for you?

I had faith to come,
Faith to pray,
Why God did you turn away?

And then,
I heard you say,
“I haven’t turned away
My question is,
Do you have faith enough to stay?
Stay in the questions,
And sit in the unknown
Hold your hand open,
Relinquish your throne?

It’s time to let go
And receive something new,
I am the one
Who knows what to do.
I am the one
Taking care of you.

So inch closer and
Sit next to me,
Quiet and listen
Hear my heart beat.

My silence is
A gift to you
For it’s my presence
That will lead you through.

So come close,
And feel me near,
All is well
Because I am here.

“God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains. Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.”
Psalm 46:1-3(msg)

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1 (NIV)
