Your Words are Better

By Susie Teramura

Your words are

Better than mine,

So I am parking here

Tonight, in Your Word

Making it my own,

Digesting and mulling,

And rewriting it in words

That belong to me,

To sing back to You:

 Isaiah 64:3

 God, You do

Awesome things

Things that we

Do not even

 God, You come

Down to us?!

Even the mountains

At your coming.

 Never in all time

Has anyone

Ever heard or seen,

A God like You,

Who leaves Your

Holy and perfect place,

And comes

To act in behalf of

Those whom

You love.

 You step in

And help

To carry

Our load,

You love

To do it,

To protect

And help us,

We wait

For You.

 You are glad

To come and

Save the day.

 You are full of

Mercy and love.

 I am so glad,

Deep in my soul,

That I belong to

 Isaiah 64:3-5(NIV)

For when you did awesome things that we did not expect,

You came down, and the mountains trembled before you.

Since ancient times no one has heard,

No ear has perceived,

No eye has seen any God besides you,

Who acts on behalf of those who wait for him?

You come to the help of those who gladly do right,

Who remember your ways.

  1. Susie,
I get chills when I think about all of nature responding to God – -the mountains trembling and the stones crying out in worship — it’s completely amazing, isn’t it?! I’m not sure we spend enough time considering God as we wait and seek, and behold his character, for we would be in awe, as you point out, that he comes alongside us to carry our load and shoulder our concerns. So glad to see the art of the mountain and trees — just beautiful! xoxo

    1. Hi Valerie- It is really hard to grasp I think- But even when we get a glimpse for the smallest second it is life changing isn’t it?! Love like this melts our hearts and draws us to wanting more of Him. Thanks so much! sending love ! xo

  2. Susie, my heart is awed to imagine such an Almighty God coming down from His Holy place to act on our behalf. And He does it so willingly and lovingly, too, as you write, “You are glad to come and save the day.” Incomprehensible. Thank you for another inspiring poem. I love your artwork here, too. Such a peaceful scene! Love and hugs to you!

  3. Hi Trudy -mine too- What a comfort to have Him who loves us so as our friend and helper. The one who will shoulder our burdens and the things that bother us! Thanks for your encouragement Trudy! I am so grateful – Sending hugs xoxo
