My Valentine

My Valentine

 By Susie Teramura

 Pink hearts and boxes of

Chocolate squares

Carmel, cherry

Orange cream,

Toasted coconut

And the pecan turtle,

Sit pretty in pleated tissue cups.

Dozens of roses, red,

Cards and candy hearts,

And words like,

U R Cute,

Be Mine,

It’s Valentines,

A day to celebrate

Love,

And You,

Because You are

Love,

That’s who You are.

And I think about that,

And all the ways You’ve

Romanced me,

Inviting me

To come away with You,

To find my voice,

To dance,

And to live free,

You’ve found Your way

Into my deepest parts,

Holding me there

When I’m falling apart,

You have

Captured my heart

Tucking it in

Safe, next to Yours

Forever together,

No matter the weather,

You and me,

For all time,

Jesus, I am yours

And You are mine-

My very precious

Valentine.

Song of Songs 2:10

My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.

Song of Songs 6:3

I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;

Song of Songs 10:7

I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.

  1. Susie,
I was so happy to see this post sail into my mailbox last night! 🙂 What a perfectly precious ballerina girl you’ve created (you have such lovely models in your beautiful girls!) and I was just thinking about those verses from Song of Solomon last night! They are the most wonderful to read on Valentine’s Day, aren’t they? No matter how many loves we have here on earth, we are God’s specially loved children — what a comforting thought of how he romances us and pursues us. And I think my favorite chocolate in the box you write about is the toasted coconut! How’d the scones turn out, by the way?! 🙂 Much love to you! xoxo

    1. Hi Valerie- 🙂 Thanks for encouraging me to post -and helping me feel ok about a re-post too!! Yes I love these verses too -and thinking about the fact that we are called his beloved. I want to really know that in my heart each day. I think it would be fun (but hard) to paint a box of chocolate sometime! Maybe next year- I think I shared with you before that I used to be really into ballet! Unfortunately none of our girls have the same love! But I love it that their interests have expanded my horizons!! 🙂 The scones were great! Thank you!! Nothing like a warm fresh baked scone with homemade whipped cream! Yummm! Wish they tasted as good the second day! Anyway- thinking of you and sending love tonight! xo

  2. Susie, loved (no pun intended) this post, especially this part: And I think about that,
And all the ways You’ve – Romanced me, – Inviting me – To come away with You, – To find my voice, – To dance, – And to live free, — You’ve found Your way – Into my deepest parts, – Holding me there –
When I’m falling apart — So beautiful and heartwarming. Thank you for the reminder…

  3. I was so delighted to see your post in my email again, Susie. Isn’t Jesus’ love just so amazing? There is no greater love. These lines especially touched my heart:
    “You’ve found Your way
    Into my deepest parts,
    Holding me there
    When I’m falling apart”
Also how He captures our heart and tucks it in, safe, next to His. Thank you for reminding me of how tender and compassionate Jesus’ love is. How He wants to make the “falling apart” pieces in us whole in Him and He wants us to trust our hearts are safe next to His. God knew exactly what I needed right now. Thank you so much! Love and hugs to you!

    1. Hi Trudy- Thanks so much! His love is so amazing and hits the ‘spot’! He knows what we need before we even come to him- Its so beautiful how he knows just the words we need – the ones that go in deep and do a work in our hearts- Sometimes a little work and sometimes big- but always bring light, truth and life! I hope you had a great valentines!! sending much love tonight
