Big Bold Blooms (#3)

susie_teramura-03

Hi 🙂 I have truly missed you all and writing each week!  It has been such a crazy summer! Not at all the restful kind I was imagining but special just the same.:) Anyway I wanted to share some of my artwork. This was the only thing I really got to work on all summer besides small things in my sketchbook. This is the third large painting I did for Lynn Whipple’s class Big Bold Blooms. I have one more to go to complete my assignments. The next one is even bigger and will be the largest picture I have ever painted. I am still trying to find just the right bouquet to use. I will be sure to keep you all posted on that project and I hope to have more time to work on my assignments for the Y is for Yellow class too now.

  1. Susie,
I love this big bouquet! So many beautiful colors all sitting in that gorgeously blue vase. How fun to paint yellow things — is that what the class means? Everything you paint is yellow or you make things that aren’t normally yellow, yellow?! Ha — that sounds like a riddle — but either way, I can’t wait to see what you create! xo

  2. Thanks Valerie! 🙂 The Y is for Yellow class is actually a year long class where every two weeks we get an assignment that starts with a letter in the alphabet. So on F week we might have to do figure drawings and discuss an artist whose name starts with the letter F. On top of these assignments we have to do three short series spread throughout the year. It has been challenging and I am very behind! The neat part is that at the beginning of the year I also got and ABC Adorations Book – (from Sarah Hagerty’s website )that goes through Adoring God using the alphabet. It has scriptures for each one- So I am calling this my ABC year – which makes me happy because Kindergarden has always been my favorite grade to teach!! 🙂 It has been fun! xo

    1. Oh I just love Sara Hagerty! Her book and the concept of adoration has changed my life! She’s speaking nearby next month and I’m contemplating a road trip to go hear her. And — I was wondering how you could paint everything yellow and not be bored — haha — so I’m glad I was completely wrong! 🙂 The class sounds like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see your work!

      1. Aww that’s so awesome! I wish I could go with you!!I hope it works out for you to go!! And maybe then you can share all the treasures God shows you with us! 🙂 (and I agree all yellow would get pretty boring!!:) xoxo

      1. Yes that’s it! She refers to it in her explaination on Adoration – She didn’t write it though. It is called Adoratuon prayer book by Bob Hartley – I think it inspired her .I have just been going through and writing the verses for each letter and praying etc. It’s been good!

  3. Susie, I was so happy to see you in my mail box! I love your art work and especially your poems.
I’m so glad you are posting.

I, too, had to look up Sarah and I’m glad to have this information to go back to her site.

    1. Hi Elaine! I missed connecting with you this summer!! I hope you can find it- I am thinking it is in the part where she explains what adoration is. I hope you had a good summer but are happy for fall to be coming too! with much love
