The Perfect Gift

LAC Unit 3-snowy day-1

The Perfect Gift

By Susie Teramura

Dried pine needles

Litter the carpet

Stray pieces of

Wrapping paper

Like a mosaic

Tell the story of

Christmas day

Come and gone,

Of gifts opened

And received,

Now piled in

The corners

Of the room,

Surprises revealed,

And love

Poured out,

Christmas day is

Over and

In flows

A wave

Of sadness

Another year

More memories

Made to add

To my
Life- long collection,

So I spend

A bit of time

With this

Is done.

But I’ve

I’m still

The day

You were

I was

Born too.

Your life

For mine,

For all time.

The celebration,

It never ends.

I am just

My forever living.

So while

Is ending,

The perfect gift,

Is just beginning,

Our relationship

just like

That red Amaryllis

On my side table.

And I am

There is

No end to You.

You fill

To overflowing,

You love

Never ending,

And dole out

Grace like

A bottomless

Cup of tea,

You Father

Love me.

So as I pack

The boxes

And embrace

A new year

Of living,

I’m celebrating,

You Father

Are the Gift,

That keeps

On giving.

Exodus 33:17b

… have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”

Psalm 84:11

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

John 1:16

And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

Psalm 23:6

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 117:2

For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🙂 Praying you know His presence very near this season. I am so thankful for all of you –  You have blessed me more than words can say and I am thanking God for you as the year comes to a close.

Although I always feel sad when Christmas is over I am excited for some of the new things ahead too. I will be updating you all soon as to my newest year long art class and plans in the coming year.

I will be taking a break for a week or two as I am headed to Hawaii with my mom, sister and our girls to celebrate her 70th birthday. 🙂  Looking forward to my first Luau, white sand, blue water and lots of pineapple 🙂

Sending love and prayers for rest in Him,

Christmas Tears

Christmas Tears

By Susie Teramura

Sitting in church

Singing Christmas hymns,

Not feeling

Christmassy though,

Heart heavy,

Feeling the loss,

All this talk

Of babies,

Tired and burdened,

And we settle in

To hear the message.

Propping myself up,

Trying to keep

My wandering mind

In line,

Feeling a bit

Numb to it all,

Near the end,

He says

Something that,

Awakens my

Sleepy soul,

Like a pin prick,

On an inflated balloon,

It hits my heart

And my eyes

Start to pool.

He repeats it again,

“The pain doesn’t go away

Just because it is Christmas,”

Slowly the thought

Circles my heart

And settles into

The empty spaces.

Heading out

To lunch

The thoughts

And I find myself

Wanting to

Draw near

To You

But not able to

For some reason

And so I talk

To You

About it;

The wall there,

And You say

This to me,

“I am not

The bad thing,

I am the good

In the bad,”

And all of a sudden

I can see it,

My confusion,

My misplaced fear,

You are not

The thorn,

But the salve

That heals it’s cut.

You are not

The mean words,

But the kind ones

That follow,

You are not

The heavy load,

But the hand

That helped carry it,

You are not

The cold shoulder,

But the cup of tea

That welcomed me

You are the comforter,

The seer,

And healer

Lover of my soul,

It’s that love

That makes

Walls fall

And I find myself

Drawing near again.

My eyes clear,

And now

I can see,

The baby

In the manger

Born for me,

Precious one

With eyes

So bright,

Angles announce Him

In the night,

Savoir, gentle,

God and king,

Born to save,

And recue me,

Once again,

My heart can sing,

You, Jesus,

Are here

For me.

 Luke 2:8-11

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold,[b] an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

CHristmas pears

By Susie Teramura

Doorbell rings,

A man in

A brown jacket

Drops a stack

Of odd shaped boxes,

 On the

Front step.

I bring them in,

And shake off

The cold,

Wondering again

If I bought

Too much…but,

 Gift after gift arrives,

Packaged pretty,

And put

Under the tree,

Thought after thought,

Wrapped in

Shiny foil paper,

Tied with

 golden bows

Of loving kindness,

And tagged

With tenderness,

And loving care.

The tree looks

Taller somehow,

Colored lights

Spilling love,

Abundant blessings,

Piling high.

And I am thinking

About You, Father,

And that word,

You give

That way,

“Extremely plentiful,”

In “over sufficient quantity,”

Over and above,

It’s that kind of love,

You have

For me.

You wrapped

Your gift

In pink newborn skin,

And nailed Him

To a tree,

Ribbons of red,

Spilled for me,

Making me

Giving me

A forever home,

With a room

Of my own,

A place to be

For eternity,

Packages of love,

Piled under the tree,

I am loved

John 10:10

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.

Psalm 86:15

But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.

Psalm 130:7

O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption.

Mama Hippo and her Baby

old pics-2

This is another pencil drawing I did a few years ago.  I wanted to post this one because it is my mom’s 70th birthday this week.  This picture for me captures a mother’s heart and the special bond between a mom and her baby.  I am so thankful for my mom  and all the love she has shown me in so many different ways. She has taught me so much and I don’t know where I would be without her today. Praying you will be blessed today knowing you are loved and held by Jesus too!

Heavenly Blessing

Heavenly Blessing

By Susie Teramura

Heavenly Daddy

Bless me,

Favor me,

Do good to me,

and give to me,

in overflowing,

undeserved, amounts,

You keep me,

Hold me,

Next to

Your heart

And draw

Me in, close,

Warm and safe.

You tend to

My every need,

And hear the

Unspoken soul words,

Hidden inside of me.

You make

Your face;

Your beautiful face,

The one

That glows

Like all the stars

In the universe,

(And then some,)

You shine it

on me,

Warming me,

Filling me

With heavenly light

So that I

Will shine too,

And light up

Dark places,

Like you do.

You are gracious

To me,

Kind and gentle,

Towards me

Having all

The time

In the world

For listening,

And hearing,

And seeing,

All of me,

And after

The seeing,

Comes the loving

In the midst,

The loving

Of it all,

The loving

Of all of me.

And then if

That’s not enough

You give

Me peace

And take

My troubles away,

You are

Right here

Next to me,

And you are

Not going

I am blessed

Kept, and held

Protected, safe,

Listened to

And loved,

All is well

With me,

My Daddy

Is heavenly.

Numbers 6:22-27

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:  “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.”’

“So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

Shepherd Girl

old pics

This picture I did with colored pencils in my sketch book quite a while ago. This girl is from Peru and I thought she was so sweet with her little lamb. In this season of shepherds and miracles and spotless lambs, I thought it might be a good picture to post to remind us how precious we are to our Shepherd.
