Coffee for Your Heart- Uncharted Waters

Summer Camp Day three Water color picture 1post card-Assignment one

Uncharted Waters

Bu Susie Teramura

So my heart

Is breaking

Tonight,

To see

The struggle,

And hear her words,

And her attempts,

To be brave.

To make friends,

And find a way,

Telling me

How hard it is

To read

Her own

Jumbled answers

To the teacher

And to the class.

And I am

Finding that

That we have

Glitches to work

Through,

Learning challenges

Making themselves plain

As we set forth

Into first grade,

Uncharted waters

For us both.

And so I am

Coming to You Father,

Creator, Maker

Almighty One,

And laying this on You,

And putting

This sweet one,

In Your hands

Again,

And again.

Wondering about

The fearful privilege

Of being, mama

To this precious soul,

And so I am

Leaning on You,

Putting my

Full weight there,

Trusting You

To lead the way,

Knowing You will

Carry us both,

 Reminding myself that this

Is just another

Chance to see

Your glorious strength,

And beauty,

Break through,

And to see You

Do the wonderful thing

You always do,

Make all things

Work together

For her good,

For my good,

That this is just

The beginning

Of a wonderful story

That You are going

To tell through her

And me.

You, rescuer,

Savior,

Strong one,

Will come

To our aid,

Right on time,

To save her,

Save us,

With your strong arm

Carrying us off

With You

Victorious.

You do it

Again and again,

Same story,

Different settings,

And people,

With parts to play,

But Father

It’s Your way.

You take the weak,

The broken,

The damaged,

And make us

Beautiful

And new.

So I push the

Wet, tear soaked hair,

Out of her face

And kiss her cheeks,

Once again,

And whisper

To both our hearts,

 It’s going to be ok,

He’s carrying us,

And will help us

 Find our way.

Psalm 23:3

He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Psalm119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Deuteronomy 33:26

“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides across the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty.

Psalm18:19

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

Psalm 91:13

Psalm “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

  1. Susie, I LOVE your words. Hug that precious daughter of yours – from me! And tell her Susan said you are magnificent. Beautiful. A special child of God. Gifted with unique abilities. The apple of God’s eye. And loved…beyond measure.

    Hugs! Susan

  2. So, so, so hard to see our young ones struggle. I wish I could tell you it gets easier, but, I have a 27 and a 24 year old daughters, and they continue to have me call upon the hands of God for help. I suppose my mother still does the same for me. Because we love them so very much.

  3. Oh, Susie, how much I need this today, I’m at a much farther along state of motherhood but the promises are the same for each step. Thank you for the reminder that He ‘will carry us off victorious’ – even if we can’t see beyond the tears right now.

    1. Hi Paris- so glad to have the privilege of reminding you 🙂 because i so badly need reminding too!-:) (this is why I blog hahah- talking to myself and speaking the truth my own heart needs so much to hear )I am sorry for the struggle though 😦 and will be praying for you -for God to continue to tend to your heart and meet your deepest needs- ( even the ones you didn’t know you had-) Sending love and hugs today!

  4. My heart breaks for your little daughter, Susie. I’m so glad she has a mom who tells her how very special she is to God. Thank you for the reminder that He makes the broken beautiful. 🙂

  5. Susie,
First grade is indeed hard and your sweet girl is a brave girl to find her way through that difficult place at this young age! And you are such a tenderhearted mom — actually a perfect mom for your understanding to guide her through life’s transitions! What a picture you are modeling for her, though, to take these cares to the one who can truly understand our tender hearts and lead us through the hard passages of growth on our life’s journey. I just love the verse you included that God who loves to ride across the heavens and help us! Praying for you and your sweet girl! It’s a joy to know you! xo

  6. Thanks so much Valerie- I love that verse too!! Such a great picture of our God- (very romantic i think Hahah! Our hero coming to rescue us in splendor! 🙂 !!!) Thanks for praying for her- We are working through testing and glad to be homeschooling so she can take her time and we can get the help we need 🙂 So thankful to know you too! You always bring a lift to my day! and I save reading your blog till a quiet moment at night when I can enjoy it best! Like a little retreat for me! 🙂 xoxo

  7. Oh there is not much worse than seeing our children hurt or struggling. It really does take continually giving them over. I have to remind myself that they are on loan to me!
