Coffee for your Heart- No Words Required

Painting fall - leaf

No Words Required

By Susie Teramura

Sometimes words

Just don’t

Cut it

They can’t

Do the job

Like I wish they could.

I find there

Is a space

In my soul

Where words

Don’t work,

And there is

Nothing to

Accurately describe

What going on

In there.

I am wondering

About this,

And what this is,

And what it says

About me,

About us,

And all I can think

Is that

It’s proof,

That there is more

To us,

Than our minds,

And bodies,

There is a spirit

In there,

A God breathed spirit.

It’s there

All the outside

The core of me,

It’s the place

That came to life

When You

Called my name

It’s the essence

Of You

In me.

It’s the space

Where I was

Born again

And where

I meet with You

And You

Share Your heart,

With me,

Spirit to spirit.

And the thing

I’m learning is

That is ok,

That I don’t

Have words

For things

Too deep,

Too big,

Too painful,

Too hard,

Too beautiful,

Or too good,

Because they are

Held there,

In the secret place,

With You

And understood.

No words

(And Your kindness

Spills out,

Grace for all

The wordless ones

Like me.)

Genesis 2:7

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

John 20:22

And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

John 4; 24

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

John 14:17

The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Ephesians 1:13

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

1Peter 1:23

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God

Matthew 13:11

He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you…

  1. This touches that wordless place in my heart, Susie. I am comforted to remember that it’s ok not to have words because they are always held there in that safe place with Him. Blessings and hugs!

  2. Susie,
Oh I’m with you! I’ve been praying about something in my life for the past two years and although I wouldn’t trade this difficult emotional journey for the depth I’ve discovered with God (so amazing at times!) some nights I pray . . . and I just don’t have the words sometimes — they’re so deeply held within my heart. This is when I know the Spirit intercedes for us! I know that God already knows what’s on our hearts but what a comfort to know he can make sense out of what we sometimes can’t articulate. And yes, no words are just fine with him! xo

    1. Hi Valerie- I am so glad you understand – So thankful for God who isn’t bothered or limited by this- or by me and my stuff! It is such a comfort to know that he intercedes for us- because I find I don’t even know what to ask or where to begin! Thanks for your encouragement tonight! 🙂 xoxo
