Coffee for Your Heart- Everyday Love

Everyday Love

By Susie Teramura

Busy day

And full,

Of stuff,

Urgent and

Moment by moment,

To put out.

From blood work

To get.

To washing machines

Foaming out

All over

Mind busy,

And yet,

You have been here,

The whole day.

Right here,

Next to me.

Breathing in,

Every moment

Beside me,

Holding me,

Seeing me through,

Understanding each piece,

Even the ones I don’t,

You are

My helper,

You want to

Be involved

In my stuff,

To wash

My dirty,

To put back

In order

My chaos,

To fix

My broken,

To be strength

Mine is gone,

I sigh deep

As the sun

Sinks low,

And tears

Start to flow,

And then comes

The best part

Of the day

The house,

And all I hear

Is You,

And I am

And loved,

Your arms

Spread wide,

Then fold

Around me

Like a blanket,

And in this

Safe place

My heart rests,

And my day

Melts away.

And You remind me

That heavenly gain

Has been made today,

That in the serving,

And giving,

And lowering,

I am looking a bit

More like you.

With a big grin,

I look back

At Your beautiful face,

Staring at mine,

I belong to You,

The one

who never changes,

Sealed and

Kept for all time.

Ephesians 1:13

When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

John 13:5

After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

1John 3:2

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

 Matthew 6:20

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

  1. Thank you for the awesome reminder of what an ever present Father He is – right there with us and when we slow enough ready to envelope us with His love. Love the cute elephants too – especially the little red dangly balls around their ankles 🙂

  2. Susie,
Love this line — God wants to be involved in our stuff — no matter how mundane like washing machines that stop working and bloodwork — that’s almost incomprehensible, isn’t it?I can imagine these weeks have been full of wildly swinging emotions with sending your sweet girl off to college. But even when we can’t feel him, we know he’s there with us, holding our hand, whispering to our hearts and speaking through those who are around us. He’s the one who never changes — yes, I’m so thankful for that too! xoxo

  3. Hi Valerie, 🙂 Yes it is incomprehensible! So grateful for his gentle loving spirit that draws us in just as we are. You are so right about my emotions! UGH! So hard to have empty beds and a quieter home- Happy for them but taking some time to get my rhythm back again! So thankful he will keep time and I just have to follow his lead- and on days like today when it still seems really hard, I can just put my feet on top of his and just enjoy the dance:) sending love and hugs tonight 🙂
