My Hiding Place
By Susie Teramura
You are
My hiding place,
The place
I run to
When I am afraid,
And cannot see,
When things
Overwhelm me.
You are
My refuge,
And my rock,
My safe place,
My strong tower,
Where I can
Rest.
Because I know
That you know best.
You are my tent,
My shelter from the
Scorching sun,
And drenching rain,
A place where
I can meet
With you again,
There
I find
That I am secure,
And held,
And known,
Your very own.
There is
Nothing
I can do,
To make You
Love me more,
Nothing
I can do,
To earn
A medal or
A gold star,
You say,
“I love you
As you are.”
You are the one
Who has made
My way sure,
Who has given me
Feet like a deer
To go the heights,
And see the view,
This is where
I can dance
Forever and be with You.
It’s in your arms
I have found my home
And
I will never, ever
Be alone,
For You
Really are
Protecting me,
My hiding place
For all eternity.
Psalm 32:7
You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble, You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance.
Psalm 119:114
You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.
Psalm18:33
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.
Psalm 61:4
I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
Isaiah 4:6
It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.
Psalm 91:1
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
As I read this poem, the song “You are my hiding place, You always fill my heart with songs of deliverance, Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you” –
starts running through my mind – such a good beginning to the day —– thanks, Susette
i love that song-:) xoxxo
Such comforting thoughts! Thank you, Susie. Your poems are always so refreshing to my spirit. Hugs!
Thanks Trudi for stopping by 🙂 I am so glad to connect with you today- Thanks for the encouragement- Sending hugs to you too!
Susie,
So thankful for the verses you point us to that show us how God is our hiding place — they are so comforting and safe! Many times I feel like a turtle, hiding in my shell because it’s too much effort to be vulnerable, but knowing that God is my true shelter, no matter what happens, is so reassuring. And even when we think we’re alone because we can’t feel God, he’s there, totally enveloping us in his love! Love the little turtle, too – he looks so sweet! Although I’ve been up close to a few of them and they aren’t so friendly looking! 🙂
Me too Valerie- i’d like to have a shell like a turtle lots of times 🙂 Learning that He is our true shelter and the very best one- So kind and never changing in His love for us. We have lots of turtles where we live- Some are the big huge snapping turtle variety. They are NOT cute!- and look like they have been around since the dinosaurs -Ha haha! 🙂 sending hugs tonight!
“My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth!”
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear . ..”
So many scriptures have come to mind while reading your words. Thanks for this input at Coffee for your Heart.
Hi Michele- 🙂 There are so many verses about God being a binding place and refuge! It was encouraging to me to see how many times He tells us this! I love the one you shared- Thank you-:) Blessings today! 🙂
Visiting from linkup #dance with Jesus today – I am so glad I found your site. It is beautiful – such a peaceful spot you have created. I love your post today, I really think you should see how to submit it to an music artist as lyrics – it would make a beautiful song. Look forward to reading more of your heart!
