My Hiding Place

 By Susie Teramura

 You are

My hiding place,

The place

I run to

When I am afraid,

And cannot see,

When things

Overwhelm me.

You are

My refuge,

And my rock,

My safe place,

My strong tower,

Where I can

Rest.

Because I know

That you know best.

You are my tent,

My shelter from the

Scorching sun,

And drenching rain,

A place where

I can meet

With you again,

There

I find

That I am secure,

And held,

And known,

Your very own.

There is

Nothing

I can do,

To make You

Love me more,

Nothing

I can do,

To earn

A medal or

A gold star,

You say,

“I love you

As you are.”

You are the one

Who has made

My way sure,

Who has given me

Feet like a deer

To go the heights,

And see the view,

This is where

I can dance

Forever and be with You.

It’s in your arms

I have found my home

And

I will never, ever

Be alone,

For You

Really are

Protecting me,

My hiding place

For all eternity.

Psalm 32:7

You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble, You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance.

Psalm 119:114

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

Psalm18:33

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.

Psalm 61:4

I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

Isaiah 4:6

It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.

Psalm 91:1

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Vegetables- Spring Onions

spring onion

I wanted to share an idea that I have been doing in my journals. I have been sectioning the pages off by drawing lines to make various sized boxes. In the boxes I write my thoughts and prayers as well as bible verses and quotes that I come across in my readings that are special to me.  Long rectangles become lists of things I love or am thankful for etc. I have also added some sketching. I had trouble thinking of what to sketch at first so I decided to draw different vegetables. It is a challenge in that I can’t spend too long on them since I journal in the morning and don’t have the time then to be too detailed. I have really enjoyed drawing these, and thinking about growing and the good things that come out of it.

Coffee for your Heart- My Hero

My Hero

By Susie Teramura

In the still

Morning darkness,

I lay tucked in, peaceful

But then

There comes a sound

Strange,

Something hitting

The shades,

Then the lamp,

Groggy, thoughts cross

My mind half asleep

“That’s a big bug,”

Looking over at

My sleeping husband,

I ponder,

“Should I wake him up

For a bug?…It is a big bug

After all,”

It hits the wall again

And husband wakes up.

“It’s a bat “ he whispers,

Quiet and calm,

So as not to disturb

The sleeping 6 year old

That crawled under

The covers

Sometime in the night.

But I’m

Thinking of vampires

And chicken legs,

Oozing blood,

And rabies,

And its little quick wings

Flapping and swooping

Back and forth over

Our heads

Over our bed,

I push the panic button,

And I let out all the stops

And freak out

(Just a bit.)

But he stays calm

And the capture begins,

And ends with

A lacrosse stick,

A piece of cardboard

And a big red bucket

As the little fellow flies free

Into the early

Morning light.

We crawl back

To bed for the hope

Of a little more sleep,

But my mind

It is going again,

Tossing like mom’s

Green salad,

Thoughts tumble over and

Become seasoned with grace,

And I am thinking about that man

Lying there with me,

Imperfect and flawed,

But perfect for me.

A gift from You,

He’s my hero today,

And my Friend

The one who

Identified rightly

Our intruder,

And took over,

And took care of things,

And of me

And our babies

And my heart fills

With love

And thanksgiving.

Then I think of You,

My perfect protector

The one who takes care of me,

And who

Will never leave,

The one who

Will provide

All I need,

You capture

And conquer

Intruders,

Things unwanted

Unwelcome

That don’t belong.

You, Father,

Rightly identify them

And help me to see

That I need

To set these things free-

So that fear

no longer

Controls me.

After all

You are here,

Right beside

Me.

And slowly

The sun warms

The room,

Your love comes softly

Sweeping through,

And the day,

It’s made new

I’m taken care of

And loved by You.

1Peter 5:7 (AMP)

Casting the [a]whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [b]once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you [c]watchfully.

Psalm 16:1

Keep and protect me, O God, for in You I have found refuge, and in You do I put my trust and hide myself.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.

Heirloom Gardens- Butterfly

Still Working my way through Val Webb’s Heirloom Garden class. This week we worked on butterflies. It was fun to really examine them and try to replicate the details. I am having fun with colored pencils but find that they take a lot longer, and require patience. 🙂 Butterflies are such amazing creatures and such a beautiful representation of Gods transforming love!

I Love You More

By Susie Teramura

“I love you more

Than all the stars

Abraham counted,” she says

To me

And kisses me big

All after the dramatic

‘Get- out- of –the- bath- but -I -don’t- want to ‘ show down

And she asks me to tell her how much I love her

Hard to top that one

To wrap my words around

Feelings so big

But I try

I love you more than…

All the stars in the universe,

Fish in the ocean,

Grains of sand on the beach,

More than the leaves

On every tree,

In every forest, in

Every corner

Of the world.

And she yawns,

Eyes close tender

I am still talking soft,

Brainstorming really,

How to describe this love of mine,

This love of Yours,

Father, Maker

One named Love,

And so I go on

Changing a pronoun or two

Making it mine,

Hearing Your song of love for me too

And with the sound of

Hammer hitting nails,

It starts to ring true,

“All I want, child,

Is to be with you.

Together, forever,

Every second,

Every breath,

I loved you more,

So I conquered death”

And then You lean in

And whisper so dear

A word fresh,

And new to my ear,

“I like you too

I really,

Really

Like you

The way you look

And the way you smile

I’d like to sit with

You for a while,

To hear your heart,

And to share mine,

To tell you of my love

Too big and wild

To be contained

And then let it fall

On you

Like a drenching rain.

Soaking through

To your insides,

To the things

You like to hide,

So that finally,

Through and through,

You will know

That I’m crazy

In love with you.”

I glance at her

So peaceful,

Loved and known,

And know in my heart

I am Your own.

Psalm 135:4

For the Lord has chosen Jacob (me) to be his own, …. to be his treasured possession.

Deuteronomy 14:2

for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.

Zechariah 2:8

For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “……..for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—

Deuteronomy 32:10

In a desert land he found (her), in a barren and howling waste. He shielded (her) and cared for (her); he guarded (her) as the apple of his eye.

Coffee for Your Heart- Forever Song

Year of Spark gesso-1

Forever Song

By Susie Teramura

You are good,

And kind,

In all You do,

And I will forever sing

Of my love for You.

You are strong,

And steady,

Faithful,

And true.

Careful, attentive,

You know

just what to do.

You are perfect,

And lovely.

And all that I want,

All that my heart desires,

Is wrapped up in

All that You are.

So when

I see beauty,

Light dancing

On a rippled lake,

And smell the lilac

In full bloom,

I am really

Seeing and singing

Songs of You,

Breathing in and breathing out

Your beautiful grace.

Is spilling about.

You are

More satisfying

Than Grandma’s

Chocolate cake,

More comfortable,

Than that old chair,

More comforting,

Than a warm,

cup of tea,

You are

more beautiful

Than pink peonies in

a pottery pitcher,

More gentle

Than a quiet spring breeze,

And more loving than a mama’s

Lullabye,

And softly,

You wrap me up

In Your strong arms

You carry me,

And my load.

You are

My father, my daddy,

My brother,

My friend.

You are high above,

And at the same time,

Dwell within.

How can this be?

But,

This

Is

True,

And so, forever

And ever,

I will sing

Of my love

For You.

John 14:16

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

 Mark 3:35

Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

 Galatians 4:6

Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”

 John15:15

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
