An Evening Walk

By Susie Teramura

Dinner dishes

And counters wiped,

Time for

An evening walk.

Sun sinking low,

Dusty pinky clouds fade

Into purple sky,

And our little one

Scampers ahead,

Picking violets and daises

And curled green fronds,

Stopping to throw rocks

Into the still water,

And feel the soft moss

Between her fingers.

She’s enjoying nature,

Enjoying You,

And I feel a bit envious.

I want to do that,

I want to just

Enjoy You,

To marvel

At your works,

Using all my senses

To soak you in

And to know your deep love

To see You.

So I start looking,

And it’s crazy how

All over the place,

You are

Loving me,

In every detail,

From heart shaped rocks,

To yellow wild flowers,

And candy pink clouds,

Floating in the soft breeze,

My husband’s warm hand

around mine,

A little sweet smile

Staring up at me,

It all starts to

Look different

No longer am I

Searching for you,

I find you,

Coming after me,

Pursing my heart

Even when

I didn’t even see it.

You have been here

In every quiet,

Seeing me

Even when

I felt invisible

Darkness sets in

We head back

The house glows warm,

Small dirt covered fingers

Shove a tired bunch

Of weeds and wildflowers

In my hand.

A gift for me.

And it’s funny but

Tonight, somehow

I feel like

A bride again

Sought after,

And forever

Sealed as

Your own,

With a precious

To show for it

Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved

you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Isaiah 61:10

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Revelation 22:17

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

Heirloom Gardens- Iris

Heirloom Gardens lesson Three Iris

In Val Webb’s Heirloom Garden class, we worked on a new technique called sgraffito. I have done this technique in pottery, and with acrylic paints but I had no idea you could do it with colored pencils. Basically the idea is that you layer one thick color over another, and then you scratch designs and texture into your picture. The underneath color that shows up creates a really neat effect. This was interesting to try and I am looking forward to using it in other drawings as well!

Now I Can See

By Susie Teramura

There she sits,

All 14 years of her

Getting swallowed up

By the big black

Doctor’s chair,

As he asks her to read

That line again,

And she tries,

“P, N, R, X, and T…..

That one I can’t see.”

And sure enough

It is declared,

That she needs

Glasses to see well,

To see clear.

And how amazed

And shocked she is

To see how

She is meant to see.

And I get it,

I have been there,

Having no clue that

A clearer world

Was out there.

And then I start thinking

About my soul,

And seeing,

And not knowing

The truth of things,

And how just maybe,

My view is

A bit blurry,

That I have settled

For things

Instead of healing,

And traded freedom

For another self -made prison

Of perfection,

And protection,

So I am calling out to you,

My very Great Physcian

Can you fix me?

Can you help me

See clearly ,

As I was meant to see?

And then You, Father,

Who love to

Give good gifts

To your children

Put Your glasses on me

And all of a sudden,

I look Love-ly,

I can love me,

And the lies

That assault my soul

No longer win the day

Because I can stand up

And confidently say

I see you

My eyes are healed,

You no longer

Have a hold on me.

I belong to

The Most High God

The King of Kings

He has healed me,

And now I can see.

He has set me free.

And so I can walk

the heights,

And see the view,

Go wherever it is

You call me, to.

My eyes have been

Fixed and made new.

She puts on

Her shiny black frames,

Smiling at me,

Cute as anything

Ready to face the world

With new confidence

And bravery-

My eyes pool just a bit,

Now my girl can see!

And I hear You

Quiet in my soul

Echo it

Right back to me.

 Psalm 30:2

Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.

The Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.

Isaiah 42:16

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them

Heirloom Gardens- Pumpkins

Heirloom Gardens lesson two Pumpkin

Still working my way through my color pencil class. We worked on pumpkins, and talked about the many different varieties. I liked this kind. Sort of strange to draw pumpkins in the middle of spring, but still pumpkins are so happy, and definitely one of my favorites!

Spring Rain

By Susie Teramura

 You know

The words

I need to hear,

The ones

That fall

Like a gentle

Spring rain,

Collecting in

The gutters of my soul,

Traveling down

And dropping into

My dry places

My cracks,

Places hard,

And thirsty,

So I wait,

In the morning quiet,

To hear

From You, for

You speak

A better word,

A word that

Brings life,

And hope,

And peace.

And gently words

In puddles,

Soaking slow

Into deep places,

And like a precious

Fragrant oil

Your words coat

My soul,

Healing me,

And making me whole.

Psalm 119:103

How sweet are your words to my taste,

sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Proverbs 16:24

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Isaiah 58:8

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Psalm 30:2

Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.

Year of the Spark- Little Lamb

photo 9 photo 8 photo 7

My mom and I went to the play “Moses” at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster PA, a week before Easter. It was wonderful! They showed a beautiful depiction of the passover bringing real baby lambs on stage. This, Easter and spring has brought many thoughts of sheep to mind, not to mention they are one of my favorite animals. Anyway, all that to say I decided I really wanted to make a wire sheep 🙂 So I did, and wanted to share him with you. 🙂 with much love.

Coffee for Your Heart- Your Table

color class day 1 -1

Your Table

By Susie Teramura

Candles glowing warm,

Primroses and Pussy Willow

In a dish low,

Water goblets frosted

Beauty condensed

Dripping down lovely

White linens and lace

Napkins pastel,

Tucked into wooden rings

Shaped like rabbits

Crystal butter bowl

Pickles and black olives

On a plate of gold

Ham carved juicy, stacked

Basket of rolls,

Piping hot.

The table is set,

And there is

A place for me.

This is Easter

And the good news

It brings,

The good news

You bring.

You invite me to

The table,

To Your table,

And there’s a place

For me,

You welcome me

To come and

Eat and

To receive.

My thirst

My hunger

My tired

My broken

My sick

My lost

My stolen

The table

Is full

Of goodness

Pouring out

All over me

All needs met

Because You

Gave all

To make me new

To make me clean.

And so here I sit

In beauty white,

And drink it all in,

The loveliness of

The candles

Drip slow

This is Easter,

 Jesus loves me

This I know,

It’s from Your table

All blessings flow.

Luke 13:29

People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God.

Revelation 19:9

Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
