Coffee for Your Heart- Alive in Me

Alive in Me

By Susie Teramura

Your word, God,

It’s becoming

Precious to me.

It’s like You said,

It’s coming

Alive,

And doing its work

In me.

The work You

Intended it to do.

Clearing out lies,

And setting up shop,

Cutting to the quick,

Down to the bone and marrow,

To the core of me,

It’s telling me,

Truth.

It’s telling me

That you hear me,

You see me,

That I’m your

Precious possession,

That you are for me,

Not against,

That you have a plan

For my life

That’s good and prosperous,

That in the end

You will come and get me.

You have a place for me

With you,

And a name chosen just for me,

That in the mean time

You will never leave me,

That you, God, are my father,

The one who protects me,

Standing with me,

When I need to be brave,

Wiping my tears,

When I am falling apart.

Giving me gifts never ending.

Your word it’s

Sinking in

Deep,

Sticking like honey,

Healing the hurting places

Making me whole,

And brave and beautiful,

Just like you planned.

Each day it’s growing

In me,

Like a garden,

Life coming,

Right out of dirt.

Your word, God,

It’s becoming

Precious to me

It’s like You said,

It’s coming

Alive

And doing its work

In me.

Isaiah 55:11

“..so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Hebrews 4:12

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Mathew 4:4

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Deer on a Snowy Day- Winter Watercolors

Winter water colors deer with grass in the snow

I am taking the last of Fred Lisaus’s seasonal watercolor classes, Winter Watercolors. His classes are so much fun, and a wonderful way to really enjoy the seasons. This was my first try at a deer in the woods. We used the salt technique to make it look like it is snowing. My husband and I have concluded she is expecting a baby in the spring- 🙂 No this wasn’t planned Ha ha, 🙂 I just made her a little fuller than I had wanted to! Oh well- I really enjoyed painting this and hope to try another, maybe the Dad this time 😉

Coffee for your Heart- Together Forever

Together Forever

By Susie Teramura

You will never

Ever leave me,

Never step out of the room,

Never have an errand to run,

Another place to go,

A trip to take,

A phone call to answer,

A text to read,

Or someone more important

To see,

You’ll never say:

“I’ll be back,”

“Hold on,”

“I can’t come,”

“I’m busy,”

Or, “When I get back.”

You will

Never, ever,

Say goodbye.

You will never

Have a meeting to go to

Or an important event

That takes You from me,

Because You say,

I am Your main thing,

And staying next to me

That’s Your promise

Sealed by blood.

I am Your desire

And Your heart,

It’s melded

To mine,

We go together,

Stuck together for

All time- like,

Salt and pepper,

Bacon and eggs,

It’s me and You

Inseparable,

Forever and

For always.

Deuteronomy 31:8

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Deuteronomy 20:4

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Deuteronomy 8:7

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills

More Flowers on Acetate

Spark lesson 3 rose and purple Spark lesson 3 rose and purple-1

A little more practice on these. My littlest one and I also painted a bunch of valentines hearts on acetate. While the paint was still dry we dragged the end of out pain brushes through them making pretty designs. It was so fun, and they look really cute in the windows.

Coffee for Your Heart- My Valentine

My Valentine

By Susie Teramura

 Pink hearts and boxes of

Chocolate squares

Carmel, cherry

Orange cream,

Toasted coconut

And the pecan turtle,

Sit pretty in pleated tissue cups.

Dozens of roses, red,

Cards and candy hearts,

And words like,

U R Cute,

Be Mine,

It’s Valetntines,

A day to celebrate

Love,

And You,

Because You are

Love,

That’s who You are.

And I think about that,

And all the ways You’ve

Romanced me,

Inviting me

To come away with You,

To find my voice,

To dance,

And to live free,

You’ve found Your way

Into my deepest parts,

Holding me there

When I’m falling apart,

You have

Captured my heart

Tucking it in

Safe, next to Yours

Forever together,

No matter the weather,

You and me,

For all time,

Jesus, I am yours

And You are mine-

My very precious

Valentine.

Song of Songs 2:10

My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.

Song of Songs 6:3

I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;

Song of Songs 10:7

I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.

A Carrot and a Flower- Acetate, Collage and Painting

Spark lesson 3 carrot with ribbonSpark lesson 3 daffodil

For our third lesson Lynn taught us how to paint and use collage on acetate (clear film-like paper) and on plexiglass. I have  been experimenting with it a little, and made this carrot and flower. The carrot is collage under the clear film, then painted with gesso, whereas the flower is drawn with a sharpie then painted underneath with acrylic. I haven’t tried the plexiglass yet- seems a bit intimidating but will give it a try soon I hope. It is fun to try new things as it helps keep expectations low, and so it is easier to just enjoy the process.

Coffee for your Heart- A Pink Balloon

Spark lesson 2- ballloon editied collage-1

A Pink Balloon

By Susie Teramura

Little fingers hold mine,

We cross the parking lot,

Special Starbucks date

Just us.

Pink grease pencil

Decorates the door,

It’s National Croissant Day

Who knew?

A day to celebrate

The croissant-

As we settle in

With our Peppermint Mochas

And butter croissants,

In comes the manager carrying

A bouquet of balloons,

Pink with hearts.

She slowly ties them

All over the store,

Blossoming beautiful,

And I take it in,

All these lovely things,

But it’s the balloons

I get stuck on.

Thinking and

Talking quietly, inside,

To myself and You,

What is it about balloons

That is so happy?

That can lift a room and a day

And change things,

Just air captured

By colored latex,

And then

You speak soft,

“It’s joy in the moment

That’s what they are-

No one saves their balloon

For tomorrow

They must be enjoyed

Now, in the present,

And their purpose

Is singular,

To bring joy,

And color,

And life.”

And then you keep on

Speaking to me

About life

And things present

Gifts I have left unopened

Un-enjoyed waiting

For another day

For things to slow-

But these,

Like balloons,

Are meant for now,

Were sent by You

For this present moment

To enjoy,

To bring joy,

And color,

And life.

You, God of grace,

And love unending,

Give me daily balloons.

Life wrapped beautiful,

Each day,

It’s Your way.

I break off the end,

Buttery and sweet,

And whisper back to You,

“Don’t let me miss them

Jesus, the balloons

You send to me,

The things stretched

by love

Meant for my

Present joy.”

I look across the table,

Her mouth covered

In whipped cream and chocolate,

Grinning big,

My heart lifts,

Carried up

By joy and

Wrapped in

Love by You.

 Psalm 21:6

Surely you have granted (me) unending blessings and made (me) glad with the joy of your presence.

Psalm 65:8

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
