Coffee for Your Heart- There’s Spring Under There

Spark lesson 2- pattern

There’s Spring Under There

By Susie Teramura

Cold gray skies again,

My heart feels it too

The winter,

The slowing,

And the monotony

Setting in,

Playing the same song

Taking me down

Roads of despair,

Thoughts that You’re

Not there,

Thoughts not good,

True, pure or right,

Stuck in a rut, like I’m

Spinning my wheels

Tonight.

I call to you,

Helpless once more

Unable to pull myself

Up off the floor,

Or out of this pit

 To see

Straight anymore.

And then you come

Faithful One, to

Rescue me,

In the quiet

Of the night,

In your presence

Is fullness,

And new life.

You remind me that

You are near,

And that

Believe it or not,

There is spring…

Under there.

Under the hard,

And frozen ground

Life is stirring,

All around,

That in this

Winter waiting,

Roots are growing,

And spreading,

And strength

Is gaining.

And that there is

No lost ground.

When victory is

The battle sound.

That what seems stagnant

Stuck and almost dead,

Is really where life

Is beginning instead,

You take my chin

And lift my head

And looking long

Into my eyes

You speak a word

Both strong

And wise,

“Forward we move,

You’re not alone

We’re together and

We’re headed home.

Higher up and further in

I wrote the story,

I know the end,”

And then I whisper,

“But I am scared,”

You curl your hand

Around mine there

Warm and strong

As if to say,

It won’t be long,

It will be ok,

Stay close

Beside me today,

Spring and new life,

They’re on the way.

I pick myself up

And face the gray

I speak to winter

And loudly say,

“I‘m not giving up

Or into despair,

Beneath

This ground…

There’s spring

under there.”

Jonah 2:2

He said, “I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me.

Deuteronomy 20:4

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Coffee for Your Heart–My Heart’s Home

 My Heart’s Home

By Susie Teramura

Driving home from church today

Thinking about the sermon,

The topic – prayer,

And words,

And how time in prayer

Is where it’s at-

And I’m thinking about

That word, prayer

And what it means,

Putting it in my own words
trying to own it,

Make it mine.

Prayer, A time to talk

With You,

Father of Lights,

Creator of atoms and cells,

Sweet smelling flowers, ladybugs

And the Milky Way,

Lover of all mankind,

Every nation, every tribe,

Lover of every soul,

Lover of me.

It’s time to

Connect with You

To share,

To wrap words

Around my heart

And gift them to you,

And wait,

For Your response,

To hear Your thoughts,

To still myself

In Your presence.

I’m starting to see,

That this

Exchange of words,

This face-to-face time,

It’s less about

Results and answers

And more about

Us

Our relationship,

Our special, like no one else’s

Relationship.

It’s in this a space

Where my love

For You grows

Where I am fully known

And I am knowing

You,

Kind, good,

Full of compassion

And strength,

You,

It’s  where my ears

Open to Your thoughts

So I can be taught,

And counseled,

And comforted,

 Cared for

Inside out.

Prayer-

An open invitation.

An always-standing offer to

Be with you.

Pulling in

The driveway-

My thoughts settle,

My heart has

Found its way home

To You.

Isaiah 58-9

Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;

you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

Psalm 42:8

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.

Psalm 88:13

But I cry to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

Coffee for Your Heart- Pajama Love

Coffee for Your Heart- Pajama Love

By Susie Teramura

Evening falls quiet,

Into night,

Pulling on

Flannel pink and red

Drawstring Pj ‘s,

Fluffy yellow socks,

Make my feet like

Baby chicks curling

Up for the night,

Old long sleeve t-shirt

With letters fading off,

Slides on comfy.

Make up washes down the sink

Undo the rubber band,

Red hair falls into

A curly mess.

Looking in the mirror,

I see me,

Tired and real,

It’s funny because

Tonight,

I found you there.

Loving me, plain

Just being me,

Just because,

No reason but

You are Love.

It’s Your other name,

Your nickname

The name

You are known by.

And so I stand there,

All a mess,

And feel you

Comforting me,

Warming up my

Insides,

Filling me up

Like cocoa,

In my heart,

With marshmallows

On top.

It’s the real me

You love,

The real me

You see.

Crawling under the covers,

I sigh big,

Breathe,

Shoulders let go,

Relief

You God,

Named Love,

Found me.

1 John 4:8b

“God is love.”

Deuteronomy 7:9

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments”.

Sketching Breakfast

Craftsy sketchbook class #2 crossant Craftsy sketchbook class #2-1 eggs

I am taking a class from Craftsy called Everyday Sketching. I chose it because I would love to be in the habit of drawing everyday! I think it would definitely help me improve and I find I feel better after I make or create something. I have also found drawing/painting, helps me to appreciate the gifts God gives each day, and to take time to really study things I normally might pass by. Our assignment was to pencil sketch a few still lifes. I like breakfast, though I don’t get to eat it often, I do like the food choices for this meal. Yum! 🙂

Coffee for your Heart-Reflections

By Susie Teramura

Looking back

Reflecting

On things,

On time and how

You invited me

To write,

And paint,

To show up,

To have a voice.

To share my heart-

And just be,

Mistakes and all

And to know

You there.

And I found joy,

It’s with you,

In your presence

A lovely place

To be,

Where I can feel

You loving me,

And it seems

To never stop,

Or end or tire,

Or fade.

It is just a strong

Today as it was

Yesterday.

Each day

The same,

Each day waiting

For me,

You stand with

Arms open,

Eyes smiling,

And heart full.

It’s like I am

The only one,

Special,

Called out,

Your beloved,

And there is

Joy, knowing

That your presence

Won’t change.

You, won’t change.

No matter what I say or do,

Mistakes and all,

You love me

Never ending,

So as the year ends,

A new one begins,

Endings always

Usher beginnings,

Death and birth all

Mixed up in one

Glorious story that

Points to you

And the victory

You have

Won for us,

For me,

I am deciding,

To press on

And to keep saying, yes

To you,

To your invitation

To embrace

Your love

Full

And to live

With You near

Secure, and loved

Held,

Forevermore.

Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
