Coffee for your Heart- Christmas Day, Perfect Day

Coffee for your Heart- Christmas Day, Perfect Day

By Susie Teramura

Christmas Day,

Perfect day.

Tiny Box wrapped

In love

Under the tree

Big red bow

On top

With my

Name on it-

A present

From You

To me….

My eyes

Light up,

Lift up,

I catch

My breath.

For just

A moment,

Time stands still

Unwrapping things

Piece by piece

It all sinks in

I’ve been

Thought of

Cared for

My insides,

My heart,

Has been seen,

Looked intently upon

Acknowledged and

My soul celebrated,

And called

Noticed me,

And romanced me,

And named me

Your own.

This gift

Belongs to me

It’s mine

Defining whose I am

And why I matter.

Tiny baby

Wrapped in love

And rags

Made to

Die for me

Hung his gift

Up on a tree

Pouring out

Giving life to

Pink cheeks

Quietly to say

Christmas, I am loved

It’s a perfect day.

2 Corinthains 9:15

Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!

Deuteronomy 14:2

You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.

Sushi Chef

I did this drawing of a sushi chef a long time ago- (I wished I would have something newer to post but have been so busy with Christmas! ) Anyway  I thought I would post this picture because my mother-in law, who is Japanese, makes us a really yummy Japanese meal for New Years Day! Happy New Years! Blessings to you!

Coffee for Your Heart-Immanuel- God with Me

Mantle lined

with lights,

And greens,

Tiny glass

red balls,

Mirror my

Warped Image,

Eyes wander

Piece by piece,

Shepherds, Wise Men

Camels and sheep

The Nativity,

It tells

The story,

It tells

My story,

And what He

Did for me

“And He

Will be called

God with us.”

God with me,

God beside,

God coming near.

The God,

Named Love

Setting up

His tent in

My heart,

Permanent and

For good.

Forever in

The middle,

Forever mine,

My kinsman redeemer,

He spreads His

Garment over me,

Taking care

Of things

I can’t,

And now,

I have no

Thing to fear,

No reason to

Be afraid.

Thing is

Too big

Too hard, too broken

Too impossible,

For the One who

Stands beside me,

The One who

Makes His home

Inside me.

Now I am a safe.

He has

Made a way,

He is the way.

For me

Staring at

The manger,

Baby wrapped

In rags,

In love,

And crowned

In light.

This baby,

Precious Immanuel

“God with us”

God with me

That’s my story.

Matthew 1:23 (NLT)

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!

She will give birth to a son,

And they will call him Immanuel,

Which means ‘God is with us.’”

Nativity Paper Dolls

A while ago, I took Carla’s class on making paper dolls. These are made out of old cereal boxes painted with gesso, and then drawn, water colored and cut out. Then I made a stand up stable out of another cereal box that folds to hold the dolls on the inside and stands up as a background on the other side. These were so much fun. I wasn’t able to get a good picture of the dolls standing, but thought to share them anyway- This wonderful class if anyone is interested, and is available at her website!

Coffee for Your Heart- The Throne Room

Coffee for Your Heart-The Throne Room

By Susie Teramura

The throne room,

The place where You

Sit and do

Where You make

And rule,

And reign

And call things

Into being,

Making statements,

About Your heart

And what it

Thinks and wants

And knows is best.

It’s where

Your chair is

The one that

Is just for You

Where You sit,

Where You

Invite me to come

Bringing all my stuff

And thoughts,

And messes,

To come

Just as I am

Not dressed well,

Or fixed up

But as I am,

In this present

You ask

What’s on my mind

What’s sitting

on my heart.

You wait and listen

With open ears

Leaning near,

Welcoming me

To just be,

You like my company,

You like me.

At first it feels

Not right,

To be allowed in

To be so near,

As if I am family

And I fit in,

Then You do

In my heart

Speaking Your truth,

Words of

Love undone

Blood poured out,

Business transactions won,

For my soul,

You show me the truth

Your name stamped

Fresh on me,

I am yours,

And now this place

In the throne room

Next to you,

It belongs to me

And is my home

Where I am

Accepted, loved

And fully known.

So here I

Sit, confidently,

With You,

The truth,

Enjoying the view,

The sun pours in

And warms my

You are taking

My pieces,

And making me

It’s the sitting,

And being,

With You

Love like ink

Soaks right

Writing stories

On my heart,

Of rescue, redemption

That’s the best

In the throne room

Your grace is,

Running free

I find You here

Healing me.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

John 15:15

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Lily and the Lion-

Lily and the Lion

Our last Fairy Tale is Lily and the Lion. In a lot of ways it is like Beauty and the Beast. Our assignment, being the last one, is hard! We have to first of all illustrate each page as we see it. We have to use pen,so no messing up and erasing. I am finding this a real challenge. Here is my title page.

Coffee for Your Heart – Heaven Came Down

By Susie Teramura

Bustling mall

Decorated to

The hilt,

Santa in

His jolly red

Visiting with

Hearing their

Deepest desires,

Leaning his ear

Into what they

Really want.

Then from

On the other

Side of the

Open space

A single voice

Sings out,

A carol,

And then

Voices like angels

Fill the room

Trained choir

Singing praises

To You,

The chords and harmonies

Blend and resonate,

Filling the crowed mall

With glory,

But it is the faces

I remember most,

Startled shoppers

Stop and look on,

And slowly,

They soften

In all shapes

And sizes

Reflecting the

Same thing,

The wonder

The want,

The hope

That it’s true.

That there truly

Is a savior,

To fix our

Broken hearts

And lives.

To fix

The cracked up

Someone to

Save the day,

Do the impossible,

Make sense of it all,

Hope that

The child

Born that

Starry Night

Was a gift

With our

Names on it,

A rescuer

A God,

Only good,

Only true,

Only right.

A few eyes water,

The busy quiets

To music

That sings a

Different message,

A hope message,

A redeemer

Has come

And meets

In busy malls,

And messy lives,

And that

God ‘s listening,

Leaning close,

Hearing our hearts

Deepest Desire,

Seeing through

The outer

Perfume sprayed

To the

Deep inside

Place where

The real begins,

Love and

Light and

And then

It happens,

Right near

The end,

As more and

More voices rise,

Heaven comes down

And touches souls,

Changes lives

God showing up,

Amongst us

Glory in

the highest

God with us

Peace for all.

Luke 2:13-14

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
