Coffee for your Heart- A Piece of You

Coffee for Your Heart- A Piece of You

By Susie Teramura

I met her on

The page

This morning.

Dusty road

The heat

Of the day,

Crowds surround

Pressed in

On Him.

Her worn hand

Reaches desperate,

Weaving its way

Through the madness.

Just a touch,

Just a piece,

Of his cloak,

Of Him,

Just one piece

It’s all she needs,

For it to stop,

The anguish,

The empty sick

Living to end,

And she gets it

That piece

That healing

That her heart

Is hungry for.

And I think

My heart,

It’s hungry for

Like hers,

That’s all I need

Just a piece

Of You,

Because I know

Even a touch,

A finger brush

It’s a game changer,

A soul healer

A life giver,

And so

I reach desperate

For just one piece,

But in the reaching

I find You

Already there

Meeting me

And stretching out

Your arms

Strong and beautiful

You speak,

“Not just a piece

Precious daughter

 My love,

I give you

All of Me.”

Mark 5:34

“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

2 Timothy 4:6

As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God…”

Put A Beak on it – Scrap Paper Birds

Scanned birds1 Scanned birds blue

I am still working my way through summer art camp. This lesson was called” Put a Beak on It.” Carla showed us how even a simple scrap of paper can look like a bird if you put a beak on it! 🙂 So here are my strange birds!! It was fun and as always, I would like to try again-

Coffee for your Heart- It’s all Good

Coffee for Your Heart- It’s all Good

By Susie Teramura

Scrolling through

Gobs of mail

Mostly adds, junk

Delete, delete, trash

But my eye catches one

Etsy, saying…….

“It’s all good ”

I pause, and

Wonder about this

World, and

What’s going on

How it seems

Things have gone mad

How things

Seem all bad

Hmm… the pause

You speak to my heart and

Turn things

Whispers of hope push

Their way through

You speak soft but clear

To my scared heart,

“Child, It is true

It’s all good,

Because I’m the one

Taking care of it,

Of things,

Of you.

My rescue plan

Is in place,

And not a moment too soon,

When all seems lost,

I will pull back the curtain

And show myself self-strong

On behalf of those who love me,

And the wrongs will be righted

Justice will be served,

And the pounding beat of my heart,

The love sounding strong will

Shake this place,

As I come for you

My beloved one.

It’s all good you see

Because you,

My lovely one,

Belong to Me.”

I breathe deep

A sigh

Back to the mail

And the trash

More to delete

But tucked into my soul

As only you could

There’s hope

In my heart

It’s all good!

2 Chronicles 16:9a

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

Cinderella Collage Dresses

photo 2 photo photo pumpkin

Our next assignment was to use collage papers that we were to make ourselves, to create pages for a board book about Cinderella-We were to make no figures, just the central images-things like her dress, before and after the magic, the pumpkin, slipper etc. Anyway Carla taught us how to watercolor various different kinds of very thin paper to use for our collages. One technique was to use toilet paper! I liked using the toilet paper actually-(when she demonstrated I thought It wouldn’t work- but gave it a try anyway) So these are some of the things I came up with. Minus the pearls on the party dress and ribbon vine on the pumpkin, these are all made of toilet paper!

Coffee for Your Heart- The Red Poppy Dress

Coffee for Your Heart -The Red Poppy Dress

By Susie Teramura

Three buttons

And a big red bow,

She twirls bright.

Her red poppy dress

Swings high.

Brown hair hanging

Little arms open

Hugging sky,

Free and loved

In breezes light.

She sways and dances

Glorying in her own

Feeling it

Right down to

Her beautiful bare feet

Half covered

In soft mud.

I smile and

Feel it too,

Something in me

And knows,

Your pleasure

Your delight,

The way your

Mouth curves up

Just looking

At me

Being happy,

Being free,

Enjoying the beauty

You are making out of me.

You are

The provider

Of breezes,

And the wide-open sky,

You warm my heart,

And water my dry.

Three buttons and

A big red bow

Out of my mud

You’re making

Poppies grow.

Job 10:12

You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.”

Three Peaches

Summer camp peaches on yupo paper

I decided to try another watercolor of some peaches. This time I used Yupo Paper, which is a special very thick paper Fred Lisaius suggested in his class. It is a very nice paper, but definitely a different technique when it comes to painting on it. It absorbs a lot quicker, so I had trouble pushing the paint around like I am used to. So…, my peaches look a bit older than they were. 😉 Good practice though- and I did enjoy celebrating the peach once again! 🙂

Coffee for Your Heart- My Heavenly Treasure

Flower garden #2

Coffee for your Heart-My Heavenly Treasure

By Susie Teramura

I need

A big healthy

Dose of You

Like a shot in

The arm,

Espresso to my soul,

To wake me to

The present joy,

Right in front

Of me.

Worn by the worry

By feelings empty

By strings left hanging

The day he

pulled away

And left

To be with You.

Those strings

Just hanging raw,

The golden ones

The ones

Nearest to my soul.

The ones

I thought

No one should see,

Dangling there

Leaving me

What to do,

How to cover,

What to say,

How to clean up

This precious mess.

Then You come

And tenderly

Begin to weave

Over, under, in

And through,

You are making

All things new

Peaking over

Just to see

You are attaching

Yourself to me

With eternal cords

That will not break

That no one ever….ever

Will be able to take.

You bind my broken

Heal, restore

Attached to You,

My treasure lies

In Your arms

Always held and

Safe from harm

Now my eyes

Can start to see

That there is

Great joy

Ahead of me.

Matthew 6:20-21 (NASB)

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;  for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
